Dear Reader,
Have you ever read an old magazine? Not a few months old. Years old. Decades old. Even a century old. The words are a portal into the minds of the past. I’ve often read in wonder this “first draft of history.” Then, through sheer serendipity, I heard the suggestion of Noah Kumin, Republish the 1920s articles of The Atlantic and The New Yorker. No publication could be more radical in the 2020s. He’s right. These articles are like nothing else I have ever read. The past is indeed a foreign country. Take for example this advertisement from the April 1922 issue of The Atlantic. Can you imagine this ad running today? Truly unthinkable and not because the revolver is outdated.
This is a mere tease of what is to come. As your humble editor I seek to curate the best articles, the most thought provoking content of that century old decade. I do hope you subscribe now and join me on this journey.
Most Sincerely Yours,
The Editor
